A bike bell for Bike Works...

Bike Works asked if we could donate a pan for their 12th Annual Benefit Auction, so we gave them a pan and made them a bike bell - it turned out so lovely!

Bike Works is a nonprofit working to empower youth, celebrate community and benefit the environment by fostering a love of bicycling! We're honored to be able to contribute to their amazing work!

You can find out more about them here.

The auction is March 23rd at the Seattle Design Center - here's the details.

We've had a couple of other fun projects go through the shop lately...

These beautiful door handles and some very cool brackets! They're timber straps with wedges, designed to hold together multiple timbers vs. one giant beam. Above is the prototype, the rest are out back getting that rusted weathered look - they'll be a gorgeous contrast to the wood!

It feels a little like spring, the shop is starting to thaw...and there's been a lot of hammering!

Cheers,

Blu Skillet

Evening Magazine

King 5 Evening Magazine came by the studio to do a story on Blu Skillet Ironware, which aired last night. Here's a link to the video showing Patrick making pans and us talking about the business and the process - apparently I giggle when I'm nervous.

Seattle Magazine - November Issue

We're honored to be one of Seattle Magazine's 2013 Tastemakers! Look for us in the article "The New Tastemakers of 2013" out this month, and see a sneak peak online here.  A big thank you to Amy Pennington, who wrote the article - if you don't already know her, you should, she's phenomenal!

Shop our wares online!

We're so happy to announce the launching of our online store!  It's been a long time in the making and the hour has finally arrived - whew.  We're enjoying a few beers while we write this post...  Thank you for your patience with all of this - it's been a fantastic, crazy last few months.  It was really important to us to try to do it right - we so hope you enjoy browsing the store and seeing our wares.  Also, we're going to open our workshop to the public Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4pm to 6pm starting in October - hope to see you there.

Again, thank you!

Open Studio Night

Join us for a night of art, demos, refreshments, etc. at the Ballard Metal Arts building this Saturday, 5-8PM.  All the artists in the building will have their doors open and there will be guest artists too - these are amazing folks who make enameled artwork, intricate wood carvings, vintage volvo car restoration, mixed media artwork, forged metal art pieces and more.  Patrick will do some forging demos and we'll be showing sculptures and paintings, as well as the Blu Skillet wares.  Hope to see you there!

some photos of the pans

Had a great photo shoot last week with Kim Doyel of KLD Studio and got some lovely shots of the pans.

An update...

Thank you so much to everyone who has inquired about our pans!  The response since our launch 8 days ago has been fantastic, better than we could have hoped for.  Now we're just trying to keep up with it all!

We had a lovely rain-soaked 2nd day at the Ballard Farmer's Market yesterday and we hope to continue selling our wares there throughout the summer.  So if you can, please stop by and if you can't but would like to purchase a pan, we would be happy to meet with you by appointment at the shop in Ballard.

We've also had some inquiries as to how to purchase pans if you're not local...  We're working on building an online store, but in the meantime here are some images of the pans with their prices and I hope to have shipping and handling charges determined in the next few days.  So if you're interested, contact us - we would love to work with you!

Thanks again,
